Wilma Jane Mahaffey

Wilma Jane Mahaffey, 81 of Cleveland, departed this life on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Tennova Healthcare.

Born on June 30, 1939 to the late Leonard and Stella Farris, she was a native and lifelong resident of Bradley County. She was a member of Waterville Baptist Church and retired from Hardwick Clothes and most recently, Charleston Hosiery. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandbabies; loved going to ballgames and working in her yard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Mahaffey; and her sisters: Gladys Runyon and Reda Hardwick.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters: Debbie Cope (Alan), Kay Jones (Gene); grandchildren: Josh and Brielle Jones, Jonathan and Amber Cope, Whitney and Michael Culley, Kayla and Cody Whaley; great-grandchildren: Lilly and Beau Cope, Aubrey Culley, Cason Whaley, Arella and Asher Jones; sisters: Laura Headrick and Doris Armour; best friend, Hazel Ledford; longtime family friend, Ted Chase whom she loved like a brother; and several extended family and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life and Homegoing for Wilma Jane Mahaffey will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2021, at New Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Alan Lovelace officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jonathan Cope, Josh Jones, Michael Culley, Cody Whaley, Tim Riggs, Bryson Riggs, Barry Farris, and Randy Longley serving as pallbearers. Great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to -8 p.m. today at New Friendship Baptist Church.
