Shirley Y. Brewer


Shirley Y. Brewer, 77, of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022.

She was born on Christmas Day, in 1944, to the late Anderson and Mamie Moore. Shirley was a lifelong resident of this area. Before her illness, she was a tremendous, Godly woman, who was very active in her church, Community Chapel Church of God, under Pastor Buddy Brewer.

Shirley was a hard-working wife and mother, who loved spending time with her family and taking care of them. Shirley, alongside her husband, Tommy, founded and ran two businesses: Tom Brewer Furniture and Tom Brewer Rentals. She worked very hard providing for her family.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jackie Wayne, Freddie and Wanda.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 64 years, Tommy Brewer; children, Tommy Brewer, Bruce Brewer, Susan Brewer and Philip Brewer; siblings, David Moore, Gwenith Lyles, Judy Moore, Janet Keys and Darlene Ball; grandchildren, Tommy Brewer Jr., Jacob Brewer, Daryl Richeson, Mitchell Ramsey, Katelyn Nation, Travis Brewer and Melissa Godfrey; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends from noon until the service at 3 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Earl’s Cemetery.
