Roy Walter Green, 85, of Charleston, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 25, 1937, to the late Elmer and Oley Green. Walter served in the Army and National Guard for a total of 13 years. He loved being outdoors, building campfires and spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting with his son and grandsons and was known as “Mayor of the Dock” by many at B&B Marina, where he had a houseboat for 35 years. Walter was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Maxine Green; son, Brian Green; daughter, Sonya Planzer (Richard) of Dalton, Georgia; grandchildren, Alex Green (Rayven) and Austin Green; great-grandchildren, Rosalie, Rylie and Ronnie; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Walter’s family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Companion Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life service to follow the visitation at 4 p.m.
He will be laid to rest following the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
