Roy Gilbert Lyle


Roy Gilbert Lyle, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022.

He was born on Oct. 9, 1940, to the late SamBo and Virgie (Tootsie) Lyle. He was known for his great upholstering skills and served in the Tennessee National Guard for 28 years before retiring.

He was a very loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He never turned down an opportunity to aggravate or play a funny prank on family and friends.

He will be greatly missed by his daughter (Daddy’s Girl), Kim Lyle; granddaughter, Lindia Bain; two very special great-granddaughters; siblings, Bobby Lyle (Faye), Betty Hair and Melba Pratt (Curtis); and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Special thanks to his longtime friends, Randy and Debbie Hutto, and also Prudence Nicholson for helping to care for him and making him laugh.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, in the parlor of Companion Funeral Home, 2415 Georgetown Road, Cleveland, TN 37311.

The Celebration of Gilbert’s Life will immediately follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating.

Burial will be held following the funeral service in the Veterans section of Fort Hill Cemetery with military honors. Robby Hair, Kevin Hair, Michael Hair, Heath Carrol, Jason Brock and Travis Henderson will serve as pallbearers, with Tony Carrol, Travis Jones and Nick Jones serving as honorary pallbearers.
