Richard Thomas Hughes

Richard Thomas Hughes, 45, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the family residence.

Richard was born in Chattanooga; and he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hershel and Mildred Hicks; and his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Ruth Ann Hughes.

Richard was a 1994 graduate of Hixson High School and received his associate's degree in structural engineering from Chattanooga State. Richard loved working with his hands. He could build or fix anything, including repairing small engines. He worked for a catering service that catered to the stars, including country music stars. He was an avid golfer and caddied at Valleybrook Golf and Country Club when they used to host a yearly PGA tournament. He also loved to travel, especially to the ocean.

Survivors include his mother and father, Sandy and Bill Hughes of Chattanooga; daughter, Rylee Elizabeth Hughes of Oak Ridge; brother, Lt. Michael Scott Hughes of Chattanooga; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Remembrance of Life graveside service and interment were conducted at 3 p.m., on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at the Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery with family and friends sharing. The family received friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, Wildwood Chapel.
