The Rev. Lloyd Earl Frazier, 87, of Cleveland, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, May 22, 2023.
He was born in Woodlawn, Virginia, on Aug. 29, 1935, and at the age of 28, with his wife and two children, came to Cleveland to attend Lee College. He graduated in 1967 after which he, Edna and the kids began a life of missionary work with the Church of God — first in Guatemala, then in Panama for 12 years. After studying for his Master of Divinity, they spent over 22 years in Haiti. He was a pastor, educator, builder, church administrator and overseer who started out only wanting to lead Bible Schools and train pastors.
He was a wonderful husband to Edna for 68 years and was a loving, supportive father. His grandchildren looked to Papa and Nana as the ultimate example of a godly marriage with love exemplified. He has been an example to so many as a life-long Christ follower.
He inherited a legacy of prayer from his mother, Martha. He was often found to be up in the middle of the night praying over a long list of family members and the nation of Haiti. Those prayers will undoubtedly impact generations to come.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha (Davidson) Frazier; siblings, Adeen (Elrige) Sumner, Dorothy (Arkie) Utt, Dale (Mavis) Frazier, Zona (John) Briggs, Grace (Billy) Smythers, R.C. Frazier; brother-in-law, Donald Hanks; and son-in-law, Randy Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; son, Michael (Rhonda) Frazier of Smyrna; daughter, Mava Wilson of Cleveland; grands and greats, Chuck (Alli) Norton, Winston and Adelaide, Becky (Michael) DuBose, Parker, Colton, Aiden and Maddie, Jennifer Norton, Daniel (Jennifer) Frazier, Arden, Andrew (Molly) Frazier, Susanna (James) Gunn, Ellison, Wyatt and Owen; brothers and sisters, Kyle (Katherine) Frazier, Herbert (Jewell) Frazier, Edith Frazier, Fern Hanks, Glenna (Dean) Winesett; sister-in-law, Nora Frazier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Celebration service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Westmore Church of God with Pastor Kelvin Page, the Rev. Robert McCall, the Rev. Jerry Johnson, Becky DuBose and Pastor Wendell Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery with grandsons, Chuck Norton, Michael DuBose, Daniel Frazier, Andrew Frazier and James Gunn, and nephew, Steven Sena, serving as casket bearers.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Westmore Church of God Mission Fund.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the church.
The Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, North Ocoee Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
