Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Golden was born on June, 15, 1934, in Chattanooga.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Dwight Golden; and her parents, Charles H. and Bessie McHone Sanders.
Elizabeth is survived by her cousins, Betty J. Baldree, Jim and Isabel Baldree, Barbara Ann Lance, Beth Head, Ronda (Ken) Cox, Donna (Terry) Summerlin, Danny (Debbie) Lance, Carolyn (David) Hoover and Donna (Donnie) Lindsey; as well as several other cousins.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Chattanooga High School and Lee College (now Lee University) where she received an associate of arts degree. She also attended the National School of Business in Cleveland. She served as administrative assistant to the General Secretary Treasurer in the Church of God International Headquarters, and worked in the Evangelism and Home Missions departments as well. During this time, Elizabeth was a member and served as secretary of the Cleveland Chapter of the National Secretaries Association and was listed in the 1970 edition of the Outstanding Young Women of America. In later years, one of Elizabeth’s greatest joys was buying and selling antiques, mostly of the French Provincial era.
Elizabeth attended True Life Church in East Ridge and her favorite Bible verses were Proverbs 3:5-6.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
