Mary Elizabeth Brannon Betancourt, 84, of Cleveland, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at her home.

She was a member of Redemption Point Church of God in Ooltewah Hispanic Division. She was a registered nurse who enjoyed her job and was an instructor/teacher for the Cleveland State Community College Nursing Program.
She was also a pastor’s wife. Throughout her marriage, she enjoyed working with churches in many states with her husband.

She was a very kind and sweet person who tried to help everyone she could. She was a wonderful wife, caretaker and mother and was very diligent in everything she did. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and frequently quoted, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” 

She was preceded in death by her parents, D.B. Brannon Jr. and Mary Beatrice Monroe; and sister, Georgia Ann McBeth.

She is survived by her husband, Esdras Betancourt of Cleveland; two children: Angelo and Pricilla Betancourt of Fort Worth, Texas, and Damaris Betancourt, of Cleveland; sister, Darlene Boggs, of Gadsden, Ala.; and niece, Paula Fowler of Georgia.

The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, in the International Worship Center/ Centro Internacional de Adoracion, 533 N.E. Central Ave., Cleveland, TN 37311 with Dr. Jackie Johns officiating.

Interment will be held at 11 a.m. (CST), on Tuesday in Forest Cemetery in Gadsden, Ala.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the worship center prior to the service.
