Leonard Gene Morris, of Charleston, passed away at his home on Monday, June 13, 2022.
He was born on April 16, 1942, to Mary Mull Morris and James Riley Morris of Charleston. Leonard was the second born of nine children.
Leonard lived simply and believed in working hard. If the sun was shining, he was outside working or doing something. We all knew we could depend on him. Whatever we needed, he was there. Whatever we asked, he did his best for us. He loved mowing and gardening. He took pride in making things beautiful.
He loved his family the most. He was a constant in the lives of his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and even his great-great-nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Mull Morris; father, James Riley Morris; brothers, Gene Morris, Phil Morris and Roger Morris; and sisters, Marry (Sissy) Lawson and Betty Miller.
He is survived by his brother, James Morris (Mary) of Benton; and sisters, Ellen Ross and Sandy Morris of Charleston.
There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022, at New Friendship Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers include Bart Lawson, Elijah Lawson, Cody Lawson, Timothy Morris and Ronald Callahan. Honorary pallbearers are Cyrus Lawson and Braiden Lawson.
