Jane A. Wright, 58, a resident of Old Fort, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at the family residence.
Jane was born in Saginaw, Michigan, and she was the daughter of the late Joyce A. Heidger Hood and James A. Hood. Her husband, James Bradley Wright Jr.; her infant brother, James Hood Jr.; and her sister-in-law also preceded her in death.
Jane was a 1983 graduate of Unionville Sebewaing High School in Michigan, and she received her bachelor’s degree in forestry from Ferris State University in Michigan. She retired from the U.S. Forestry Service with over 20 years of service as a law enforcement officer. She served as a ranger in the Forestry Service in Michigan, Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia. She also served with CASA, child advocacy group, of which she was proud to be a part. Jane loved the outdoors including hiking, biking, kayaking and fishing. She was also a runner and ran in several half marathons and one full marathon. Jane attended the First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
Survivors include her daughter, Dakota Wright Painter (Christopher) of Cleveland; son, James Wright (Nanea Haruo) of Old Fort; grandson, Ryker Painter of Cleveland; sister, Janine A. Hood Lee of Old Fort; brothers, James A. Hood II (Laura) of Caro, Michigan, and Jay A. Hood (Deborah) of Millington, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services, North Ocoee Chapel, with Nalani Haruo officiating.
