He was a devoted Christian and a loving pepaw to many grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and was always looking for adventure. He spent most of his career as a well-known, proud stonemason in East Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dianne Hatcher; parents, James Rubin Hatcher and Edna Iva Lee Hatcher; and brothers, Jerry and Edward Hatcher.

He is survived by his children, Joshua Hatcher, Justin Hatcher and wife, Kenie Marie, Lindsey Gaugh and husband, Ian, Lenny White, Casey White, and Kelly White and wife, Laurie; nine grandchildren, Jayleigh and Reagan Hatcher, Liam, Roane, Ivaly and Atlas Gaugh, and Landon, Braylon and Lily White; siblings, Charlotte Breeden, Cynthia Russell, Donna Rogers and Frank Hatcher; 23 nieces and nephews; and longtime best friend, Chuck Breeden will all miss him dearly.

Graveside memorial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Chestuee Cemetery in Benton.

A Celebration of Life service will follow at Mac Point Beach Recreation Area on Ocoee Lake. Friends and family are invited to bring their lawn chairs and fishing rod to celebrate James Rubin Hatcher's life while doing what he loved to do the most.
