Ernestine Moore

Ernestine Moore, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, May 22, 2023, at 7:25 a.m., following a short battle with cancer.

She was at home with her two daughters and caregiver, Tiny, by her side.

Ernestine was born on July 10, 1934, to Hamilton and Margaret Goins. She retired from Lee University at the age of 85. She made many friends with both faculty and students during her time at Lee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Moore; both parents; brothers, Bobby Goins, Buddy Goins and Don Goins; and one sister, Helen Turner.

She leaves behind two daughters, Shirley Ann Earwood and Freida Myers; three granddaughters, Nykkole Davis, Rebecca Swilling and Jessica Hazzard; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Davis, Chase Davis, Harper Hazzard and Reid Hazzard; four great-great-grandchildren, Knox, Walker, Blake and Ryan Davis; two nephews, David Goins and Ralph Turner; two nieces, Ruth Ann Hall and Margaret Ridge; and two sisters-in-law, Pearl Goins and Patsy Smith.

The family will receive friends and family for visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Chestuee United Methodist Church.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Hunter Davis, Chase Davis, J.R. Ridge, Tanner Goins, Mark Crisp and Coty Justice. Honorary pallbearers are David Goins, Eddie Earwood, Melvin Davis and John Holden.
