Ernest Davis


Ernest Tipton Davis, 86, a lifelong resident of the McDonald area, passed away on Saturday night, July 13, 2019.

He was born in Lakeview, Ga., on Nov. 12, 1932, a son of the late Hugh and Emily Davis.

He was of the Christian faith. Ernest was retired from the Bendix Corporation. He was a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his family and eating fried apple pies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Dewayne Davis; twin grandsons, Aaron and Andrew Davis; two sisters: Cora Rue and Joyce Price; and three brothers: Harvey Davis, Edward Davis and James Davis. 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory one daughter, Sheila Elrod and her husband, Jerry; two sons: Dale Davis and his wife, Cyndie, and Darryl Davis; the mother of his children, and best friend, Clara Davis; three grandchildren: Brad Davis (Lou), Keisha Baker and Zachary Davis; four great-grandchildren: twins Sam and Eli Davis, Pendell Davis and Lucianna Davis; and numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Companion Funeral Home. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Steven Taylor and the Rev. Donald Weaver officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
