She was born on July 7, 1933, to the late Hobson and Mable Jones. She was born the fifth child and daughter of a music store owner, developing a love for music in her at a young age and becoming an accomplished pianist.

Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 68 years, Russell Brinson; son, Terrell Brinson and his wife, Debbie, and their children: Terrah Holcomb (Benjamin) and Tyler Brinson (Diana); daughter, Tonna Prater and her husband, Dale, and their children: Brock Bruce (Heather) and Brooke Lee (Patrick); great-grandchildren: Miah Lee, Elleson Bruce, Bella Lee, Carter Bruce, Emmalyn Lee, Willa Rose Lee, Tenlee Holcomb, Raynah Holcomb, Gideon Holcomb, Savannah Brinson, and one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Dorcas’ Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home with a visitation for one hour prior to the service.
