U-Church fall lineup to include Wells and Greene   Lee University will once again offer an eclectic mix of U-church services this fall, providing students the opportunity to worship together in an atypical chapel format. Fall 2019’s performers include Tauren Wells on Sept. 8, Travis Greene on Oct. 6, and “An Evening of Worship” on Nov. 17. “We are so excited for the fall and cannot wait to get everyone back on campus to enjoy this semester’s U-Church lineup,” said Josh York, U-Church director. “Both of our guests, Tauren Wells and Travis Greene, were requested numerous times by Lee students during the past few months. It is always great when we can create a lineup inspired by our students.” Wells was the founder of the band Royal Tailor before he signed as an independent artist. He is a father, songwriter, worship academy founder, multi-instrumentalist, and performer. Many of his songs, including “Known” and “All My Hope,” have reached top spots on popular Christian music charts.  Wells and his wife, Lorna, have based their life around ministry and music. In addition to serving on staff at her father's church in Houston, the two have launched a private music academy, Prisma Worship Arts School. Two-time Grammy nominee Greene, who performs original gospel music, launched his recording career with his independent release, “The More,” in 2007 and since received seven awards at the 2017 Stellar Awards. He performed at the 2017 President's Inaugural Ball, the ESSENCE Festival, the Trumpet Awards, and BMI Trailblazers. In 2016, he and his wife, Dr. Jacqueline Greene, established Forward City Church in Columbia, South Carolina. In November, U-Church will present “An Evening of Worship,” a student-led service that is designed to bring all attention and focus on a time of communion for all that attend. A team of students meets throughout the semester to pray and prepare for this event, develop a theme, and write original music for the night. “An Evening of Worship is a special time for our campus,” said York. “We have shared many meaningful moments during our time of worship and communion over these past 10 years of this event.  While these services are planned and led by Lee students, we also enjoy sharing that time with our community friends.  We want everyone to know that they are welcome to attend this and any other U-Church event.” U-Church is a free, nonticketed event for students, alumni, and the community. Seating is first come, first served. Childcare is available for all who attend. Contact Jill Barnett at for more information.   ——— more
