I have told many people in Cleveland that my last day at the Cleveland Daily Banner would be at the end of October. I turned in my notice in late September, well before the recent changes in ownership of the Banner, thinking it was just my time to “fade into the sunset.”

Last week I wrote about the nonstop, eardrum-assaulting chatter during baseball games from certain TV sports announcers. Although my complaint was limited to the fact that they don’t allow viewers to enjoy the game’s natural, easygoing rhythm, some of you pointed out another trend. Ever since the Cleveland/Bradley County Greenway was established back in 2001, the ultimate goal has been for a greenway to follow Mouse Creek from the Village Green Town Center to the Hiwassee River. Since then, more than five miles of greenway have been laid, along with spurs and smaller greenways at various locations all over town. Not to mention the latest focus on building greenways along Candies Creek and Fillauer Branch as well.
