Two Lake Forest Middle School students were transported to Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland and treated for minor injuries after a Bradley County Schools bus and a sedan collided on Holloway Road at approximately 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, Bradley County Sheriff’s Office said. Additionally, a juvenile passenger in the sedan was transported to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. According to the BCSO, “the passenger vehicle crossed the center line and struck the school bus in a head-on type collision.” “All uninjured children were transported to Lake Forest Middle School,” the BCSO said. Brittany Cannon, public information officer for Bradley County Schools, told the Cleveland Daily Banner via email BCS bus No. 50 was involved in the crash. "At the time of the accident, only middle school students were involved on the bus," she said. "Two students from the bus were transported to Tennova out of an abundance of caution." She said the minor in the vehicle was "transported to Erlanger with non-life threatening injuries." Non-injured children were picked up by parents, or transported by another bus, to the middle school. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.

Cleveland State Community College professor Robert Brewer guest spoke recently to the Magnolia Garden Club. Brewer graduated from UTK with degrees in wildlife and fisheries science and also ecology and evolutionary biology. He began teaching at CSCC in 2003 and developed the first two-year forestry, wildlife and fisheries program in Tennessee. He also directs the Greg A. Vital Center for Natural Resources and Conservation. Brewer's students get hands-on experience on land that is part of the Vital Center, and he is the faculty adviser of the Cleveland State Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society. Joe and Sherri Galbraith, a couple from Signal Mountain, was ready to adopt another dog after their last dog passed a year ago and were excited to meet Midnight, a 2-year-old Shih Tzu Poodle mix. Midnight is sweet and playful. She loves everyone around her and loves to be spoiled. Midnight was surrendered to the Ark of Cleveland because her former owner could not take her with her when she moved. The Galbraiths are retired and are able to spend a lot of time with Midnight. and plan to take her everywhere with them.

Anita and Bill Bates, a local couple, recently started searching for another four-legged family member after their last dog passed some time ago. A family member came across Charlie's bio and sent the information to the Bateses. Charlie is a beagle mix who was born with a deformed foot that later had to be amputated. He certainly doesn't let that get him down though. The Bateses adopted the special- needs dog and gave him a forever home.
