The library will be receiving a grant from The Tennessee State Library and Archives for the purchase of additional computers for the Children’s Library. The state library is among 12 organizations in 11 states to receive funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2010 specifically to expand or create public computer centers. The State’s grant was $577,000 of which $11,946 will be directed to our library.

The Teddy Bear Picnic will be held at the library Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. until noon. The Junior Auxiliary — with support from the Friends of the Library Association — hosts this children’s event each year. Children age 4 to 7 are invited to attend this free picnic. Fun activities such as story time, crafts and lunch are planned. Reservations are not required. Come join us for a “beary” good time.

Friends of the Library Association will host its annual Author Event on Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. World-renowned forensic anthropologist Dr. William Bass will be the guest speaker for this event. Tickets are now on sale at the circulation desk for $10 (adult) and $5 (student).

A Meet and Greet reception for Bass will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Cleveland Bradley Community Room of the library. Delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres and scrumptious desserts will be served while you have an opportunity to chat with the doctor. This reception is limited and the cost — which includes reserved seats at the auditorium — is $50 per person.
