Becky Dethero, a former Cleveland resident, will be here Oct. 2 to sign copies of her new book, “From the Porch Swing,” from noon until 3 p.m.
The book consists of 75 vignettes which offer five-minute “vacations” to destinations of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Topics include Growing Up, Children and Grandchildren, Holidays, and Conversations from the Porch Swing.
Some of the stories in the book are from a column she wrote for the Bradley News Weekly called “From the Porch Swing.”
Dethero and her husband, John, retired to Florence, Ala., to spend time with grandchildren.
Claude Wallace will be signing copies of his new book, “Roar of the Wild Wind,” Oct. 9 from noon to 3 p.m. Wallace, a Cleveland resident, writes about the historical development of Charleston.
The novel is about a country boy who had a very close friendship with an old Cherokee Indian who had evaded the Union Army by hiding out in the back woods instead of going to Oklahoma with the other Cherokees the Union Army had rounded up.
