The Museum Center at Five Points will host its 12th Annual Gala fundraiser Sept. 24. This year’s Gala will honor Mrs. Bess Mayfield Neil whose contributions to the museum’s Endowment Fund helped to establish the endowment as a source of income and security for the museum. Thanks to her foresight and generosity, the museum continues to grow and thrive.

The Gala is the museum’s largest fundraiser of the year. The Museum Center at Five Points is a private, not-for-profit museum that interprets the history and culture of Cleveland, Bradley County and the Ocoee Region.

It raises 90 percent of its income through fundraisers, membership, rentals, admissions, and the museum store sales. The remainder of the annual operating funds come through donations from the city of Cleveland and Bradley County.

Museum Director Lisa Simpson Lutts noted “It is very fitting that we honor Mrs. Neil this year as she has contributed so much to the stability of the Museum Center at Five Points. We will also honor her contribution to the history of saddlebreds and horse breeding in Bradley Country through an exhibit that will open that evening.”

Gala committee member Christy Griffith noted that “The Gala fundraiser is an extraordinary event featuring the best of the best from food to entertainment. Each Gala has been a fabulous night to remember and this year will be no exception.”

Alan Haws, president of the board of trustees said, “The Museum Center at five Points is a great asset to our community. In addition to preserving our local history it has also played an instrumental role in the revitalization of the downtown Five Points area. The Gala is an important way for community members to support the museum and its programs.”

Tickets for the Gala are available for $150 per person, which includes a gourmet dinner catered by Alshabibi Catering and dancing with the band Sahara until midnight. Tables of eight can be reserved for a $5,000 Patron Level Sponsorship.

Sponsors also receive a Patron level membership in the museum, one free facility rental during the year for a party and 10 free family memberships to give away as gifts.

A $1,000 Sustainer Level Sponsorship receives two free tickets to the Gala, a Sustainer level membership in the museum, two discounts on facility rentals, free use of the conference center for a meeting and two free family memberships to give as gifts.
