Park View Elementary School will hold an open house for parents at 2 p.m. today at the school. Students will begin attending the new school at the Minnis Road site Monday.

Faculty, staff and students are excited about the opening of the new school. Teachers and other school personnel have been working diligently to ensure a smooth transition to the permanent facility, according to Bradley County Schools Director Johnny McDaniel.

Parents/guardians will need to follow specific traffic flow directions as the road-widening project on Minnis Road is not yet complete, according to Bradley County Road Department officials.

Minnis Road will be closed for several days from Highway 64 to Park View during the final phase of road construction. Drivers traveling from Highway 64 will need to take Durkee Road to Benton Pike with a right turn onto Powerline Road followed by a right onto Minnis Road. Access will be available onto the Park View site. Buses will operate regular routes to Park View.

An official community open house is planned Oct. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. During the official community open house there will be a dedication ceremony and tours of the facility will be available.
