The Bradley County Schools Coordinated Health Program and TENNderCARE (a division of the Tennessee Department of Health) recently partnered to host a health fair for county school employees.
“It was a big success. We had more than 800 employees visit the health fair,” said Bradley program health director Andrea Lockerby.
More than 70 vendors from Bradley County and Chattanooga participated in the health fair. Some of the vendors included SkyRidge Medical Center, Healthworks, Tennessee Career Center, Chattanooga Area Brain & Injury Center, Volunteer Energy Cooperative, Surgical Associates, Public Education Foundation, Smoothie King, The RUSH fitness center, EarthFare, AirEvac, Tennessee Education Association and Habitat for Humanity.
“Just as we know that healthy students create healthy learners, it is the same with our teachers, staff and employees. We know that if we have healthy employees we will have more productive educators,” said Lockerby.
The health fair was the first for county school employees.
A healthy lunch was also provided for employees through donations made by the Bradley Central High School cafeteria, O’Charleys, Applebee’s, Subway, Papa Johns, Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A, Fazolis, Mayfield Dairy, Coke, Cooke’s Food Store, Bi- Lo and Dixie Produce Company.
