Living Word Church will mark its 24th Anniversary Celebration this weekend.

Pastors Larry and LaVonna Cockerham invite the community to a special celebration this Sunday, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Special guest speaker for the occasion will be Evan Cockerham, from Life International Church in Augusta, Ga.

The Anniversary Celebration will include a multimedia presentation of the history of the church. The dance team will also present a worship processional giving God praise for God’s blessings over the past 24 years.

Children’s ministry and childcare will be available for all children through fifth grade.

Evan Cockerham began his ministry under his father and mother, Pastors Larry and LaVonna Cockerham. He received his diploma from Ministers’ Training Institute in Baton Rouge, La., and his bachelor’s degree from Lee University. Evan previously served as missions pastor and college-career pastor at Living Word Church, followed by a time of two years as a missionary in Ecuador and Bolivia. He is now serving as the college-career pastor of Life International Church in Augusta.

He is married to the former Adrianne Holbert.

Living Word Church began its services July 6, 1986. The first services were held at the Oak Grove Ruritan Club. Later the church moved its services to the Mountain View Holiday Inn, where the church met for about two years. Following that time, the church acquired property at 3873 Old Tasso Road where the church met for 21 years.

Now Living Word Church is celebrating its First Anniversary in its new location at 930 25th St., the former location of Pathway Bookstore.

Living Word has accomplished significant remodeling of the property, children’s ministries. The church has maintained the coffee shop located in the former bookstore. The coffee shop will be open before and after the service.
