According to police reports from the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses reportedly saw Lawrence Frank Pollock Jr., 50, punch a child in the face at the BP gas station located on 2900 Waterlevel Highway about 7:30 p.m.
Police reports indicated the witnesses told deputies the alleged assault occurred in Pollock’s vehicle. Witnesses reportedly told deputies they observed Pollock “punch the child several times” and drive off from the scene.
Bradley County Sheriff’s deputies later located Pollock driving east on Waterlevel Highway. After initiating a traffic stop, Pollock reportedly told deputies the child ran from the vehicle and he put the child back in the car. Pollock denied striking the child.
According to the deputy’s report, an adult female subject was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle holding a wash cloth which was allegedly used to wipe blood from the child’s face. The child had sustained a nose bleed. The report further indicated witnesses on the scene told deputies when Pollock left the scene they observed the child bleeding from the nose.
Pollock was taken into custody at the Bradley County jail. At press time today, Pollock remained incarcerated.
Pollock is scheduled to be arraigned in General Sessions Court today.
The incident was reported to the Department of Children’s Services.
