Dewayne E. Grissom, 63, of Georgetown, passed away Friday evening, May 21, 2010, in a local hospital.

He was the son of the late Viola Grace Walker Grissom and Johnny Cleo Grissom.

His sisters, Gerdie Grissom Myers and Wanda Grissom; and brothers, Johnny Grissom, Ernest Grissom, Jimmy Grissom, Wallace Grissom and Junior Grissom, all preceded him in death.

He worked most of his life in the logging business and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and his dogs.

Survivors include his loving companion, Linda Nation of Georgetown; daughters: Tina Lawson of Benton, and Tammy Cooper and Cindy Grissom both of Cleveland; son, Bobby Grissom of Birchwood; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sisters: Judy Grissom Gentry of Charleston, Sue Grissom Whaley and Barbara Grissom Bishop both of Cleveland; brothers: J. C. Grissom and James Grissom both of Decatur, and Lloyd “Peanut” Grissom of Cleveland; half sister, Connie Vandergriff Morrison of Georgetown; half brothers: David Vandergriff and Ronnie Vandergriff both of Cleveland and Johnny Vandergriff of Decatur; and Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. David Evans and Pastor Jimmy Porter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Doug Grissom, Tracy Grissom, Ronnie Crisp, Jason Nation, Lee Nation and Robert Gentry serving as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry and Gary Grissom.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today at the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes, who has charge of the arrangements.
