Nina Nelson Knight, 73, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at her home.
She moved to Cleveland from Chicago 33 years ago. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed reading, dancing and was a lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary American Veterans Post 13.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Sally Pope; her first husband, Robert B. Nelson, and a brother, William Pope.
She is survived by her husband, Terry L. Knight, of Cleveland; children: Jessie Skirmont of Bourbonnais, Ill., Inez (Stanley) Giertuga of New Lenox, Ill., Brenda (James) Kindred of Woodville, Ala., and Mary (Larry) Dorsey of Worth, Ill.; eight grandchildren: Tracy Skirmont, Jody (Matthew) Straight, Barbara (Todd) Marlow, Michael R. (Jamie) Skirmont, Amanda (Daniel) Meyer, Christina (Seth) Garlen, John (Charleen) Skirmont, and Dana (Walter) Bruckner; and 21 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, in the chapel of Grissom-Serenity Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Grissom officiating.
Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening, Aug. 15, 2014, at the funeral home.
