She was the oldest living member of Sixth Avenue Church of God. She was born in Talking Rock, Ga., on Sept. 22, 1915.
She was a former employee of Vest Grocery in Cleveland and retired from the Church of God Home for Children in Sevierville. After retirement, she returned to Cleveland to North Cleveland Towers. She later moved to Lenoir City to be near her son and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie Herron; son, Ronald Tarpley; brothers, W.D. and Boyd Herron; and sisters: Laura Mulkey, Carah Lee and Maggie Stevison.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Priscilla Tarpley; grandsons, Randy (Becky) and Robby (Tia) Tarpley; and great-grandchildren: Becca, Tristan and Tianna Tarpley.
Her family would like extend a special thank you to all the employees of Kindred Health Care Loudon.
Family and friends will assemble at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, in the Lakeview Cemetery for a graveside service and interment.
Dr. Ernie Varner will officiate. Casual dress is requested.
