Roy Gene Watson, 54, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, in Ohio.
He was a 1978 graduate of Polk County High School. He worked for Beaulieu Carpet and then with Cherokee Carpet Mill in Dalton, Ga., where he served as manager.
At the time of his death, he was a truck driver working for Andy and Sharon Coffee. He was considered a great motor mechanic working on car and boat motors. He loved to fish and hunt but most of all he loved being a grandfather and spending time with his granddaughters and family. He loved the Lord and his desire was to serve him. He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lesa Watson of Cleveland; his daughters: Keisha Westmoreland and Stacy Ann Dennison, both of Cleveland; his granddaughters: Allie Corinne Dennison and Kensley Leeann Chambers, both of Cleveland; his mother and father, Shirley Pittman Watson and Glen Watson of Ocoee; his brother, Dennis Watson and his wife, Ruby, of Charleston; his mother-in-law, Judy Helton; his sisters-in-law: JoAnn Williams and Norma Roland and her husband, Steve, all of Cleveland; his brother-in-law, Carl Helton and his wife, Christie, of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, from the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Alan Pickelsimer and Rod McKinney officiating.
Interment will follow in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Polk County with Frankie Hyatt, Roger Bagley, Carl Helton, James Walkey, Andy Coffee and Brandon West serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
