She was the daughter of the late Walter and Marie McDonald.
She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and an organizer for the Linsdale Community Center and West Polk Fire and Rescue no.7.
She loved her church, was an avid walker, loved to walk with her dog, loved bluegrass, went to many festivals and she loved to camp.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was loved by everyone that knew her in the community. She lived the last six months with her caring daughter, Darlene.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 58 years, Paul Orvil Wood; her parents listed above; brother, Walter Lee McDonald Jr.; and sisters in-law: Nancy Smith McDonald and Ruby Parks.
Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Darlene and William Schenck; son and daughter in-law, Douglas and Jennifer Wood; sister, Geraldine Warren; grandchildren: Melissa Wood, Blake and Jennifer Wood, Matthew and Hye Schenck; one special great-granddaughter, Maddie Paul Schenck; nieces and nephews: Anthony and Debbie McDonald, Arron McDonald, Phyllis and Darrell Parks.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home in Etowah with the Rev. Robert Hatcher officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at Benton Memorial Gardens, Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, for the 11 a.m. committal service.
