National Night Out planned for Tuesday

The Cleveland Police Department, along with the Boys and Girls Clubs, will host National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event will be held at the Boys and Girls Clubs Tucker Unit located at 385 3rd St. S.W.

National Night Out is designed to promote community crime prevention strategies to the public.

Officers will share information on Neighborhood Watch, self-defense classes and other programs that the Cleveland Police Department offers.

Child fingerprinting will be conducted by officers and inflatable toys will be available for recreation.

Specialty units such as SWAT and the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Device) Unit will be present for demos.

The Cleveland Fire Department will be showcasing its equipment and Franklin Academy will be providing free haircuts and face painting.

Hotdogs and drinks will be provided free of charge.

All children who attend will be given goodie bags.
