The Polk County golf teams already have a trio of matches under their belt, with another scheduled for Wednesday.

The Wildcats took on Boyd-Buchanan and Silverdale Baptist Academy twice last week, once at Chatata Valley and the other time at Bear Trace, in a pair of 18-hole matches, before traveling to the Links at Kahite Golf Course (in Vonore) on Monday to take on Tellico Plains.

The Lady Wildcats are off to a 4-1 start, while the Polk boys are 2-3 after a 193-233 win over Tellico Monday.

Michael Rongey has led the Wildcats so far this young season, shooting a 4-over-par 76 at Bear Trace and a 4-over 40 at Kahite.

Ryan Droke has been a strong No. 2 man for the Wildcats, with an 86 at Bear Trace and a 42 Monday. Hayden Darnell, Garrett Jones and Tyler Brown have provided the other scoring rounds for Polk in it last two matches.

Both Lauren Passmore and Heather Ellis fired 51s at Kahite, while Tellico’s lone player carded a 54.

The Polk teams will journey to Ringgold, Ga., Wednesday to face Collegedale Academy on the WindStone Golf Club course.
