Hannah Webb Hyder of Reliance became the bride of Zechariah Norman Godfrey of McCaysville, Georgia, in a late afternoon ceremony on May 19, 2014, on the ancestral Webb-Vaughn Farm in Reliance, a Tennessee Century Farm, which has been in the family 134 years. Guests were seated on the river bank behind the old Hiwassee Union Church.

The bride is the daughter of Sandra Web Hyder of Reliance. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs Rene Lynn Godfrey of McCaysville.

The Rev. Kevin Chatman performed the wedding ceremony. Nuptials included the unity candle and sand ceremonies.

The bride was escorted by her uncle Harold Webb Jr. of Reliance and Bruce Aulds of Delano, family friend and mentor. She was attended by her sister Heather LaVaughan Hyder as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Natasha Ward of Blue Ridge, Machelle Johnson of Cleveland and the bridegroom’s sister Nicole Born of McCaysville.

Eli Figueroa and Justin Mashburn of Blue Ridge served as best men to the bridegroom. Groomsmen were Kendric McDonald of Murphy, the bridegroom’s cousin Joey Sparks of Ducktown and his brother-in-law Adam Born of McCaysville.

Cooper Born, the bridegroom’s nephew, carried the rings in an antique wooden box which had housed pay stubs from the old Copper Company for the bridegroom’s great-grandfather Norman Arp. Parker Born preceded the bride down the aisle with a sign which read, “Uncle Zack, here comes our girl.”

The reception was held in the church with more than 120 guests attending from Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and Tennessee.
