Cynthia Darlene Purdie Chastain Matthews, 55, of Athens, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at her residence.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jason Chastain.
She was a member of River of Life Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, William Bartley Matthews; daughters: Ashley Graham and Alexis Matthews, all of Athens; two sons: Jeramie Chastain of Ten Mile and Aaron Matthews of Athens; one granddaughter; five brothers: Malcolm Bryan Purdie of Decatur, Kenneth Purdie of the Buckhorn Community, Sidney and Terri Purdie, both of McMinn County, J.B. Purdie of Lafollette, and Alan Purdie of Cleveland; her parents, Malcolm and Geraldine Purdie of the Buckhorn Community; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Tim Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Love Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parsons Corner Ministries, 722 Rocky Mount Road, Athens, TN 37303.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
