Roy William Elliott, 94, a resident of Athens and formerly of Henderson, Texas, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the family residence.

He was born in Bradley County March, 18, 1920, to the late James and Mabel Elliott. He was also preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Mozell Elliott; his daughter, Margie Mund and a brother Willie J. Elliott.

He was a baker owning and operating his own donut shops Snowflake Donuts and Shipley Donuts. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Air Force and at one time he was an iron worker. He was very active in the VFW and American Legion in Henderson and was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Sherman Texas.

He is survived by his sons: John Elliott and his wife Mindy, of Douglasville, Ga., James Elliott of Henderson; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandchild; his sister: Mary Ellen Taylor of McDonald; his long- time companion: Gennell Grammer, also of Henderson. Several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Earls Cemetery with the Rev. John Allman officiating.

Casket bearers will be Brad Wilson, Paul Allman, Terry Graham, Justin Allman, Blake Gamble and Sophia Elliott. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
