Flavius Josephus Lee Jr., 89, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014.

He was born on Aug. 6, 1924, to the late Rev. F.J. and Eva Lee Sr.

He was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and was a member of North Cleveland Church of God.

He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School. After high school, he attended Bible Training School in Sevierville, and ended his educational career at Bob Jones College, when the college was located where Lee University is today. The Lee University was named after his father, the Rev. Flavius Josephus (F.J.) Lee Sr.

He was also a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army/Air Force and stationed in South Pacific. He retired from the Church of God Publishing House (Pathway Press) in December 1989, after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Unity Sunday School Class for 60 years at North Cleveland, where he served as a past president.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his half brother, Lester Lee; and half sister, Nellie Hughes.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Margaret Caylor Lee; son, F. Joe Lee III and wife, Kathy; granddaughters: Hannah Lee Disney and husband, Cody, Madeline Elizabeth Lee and Rebekah Oliva Lee, all of Cleveland; sister-in-laws: Francis Wrinkle of Chattanooga and Virginia Russell of Nashville. In addition to these, he is survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

A funeral will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the North Cleveland Church of God Dixon Chapel, located at 335 11th Street. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Pastor Mitch Maloney and Marshall Roberson will be officiating.

Interment will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. with David Turpin, Brad Benton, Chip Caylor, Randy Wrinkle, Robert Wrinkle and Denny Griffith serving as pallbearers.

A funeral procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. from Companion Funeral and Cremation Service, 2415 Georgetown Road N.W. Honorary pallbearers will be the Unity Sunday School Class.
