Companion mistakenly omitted from editorial

An editorial published in Sunday’s edition of the Cleveland Daily Banner, headlined “Bereavement service merger good for area,” inadvertently omitted the name of Companion Funeral & Cremation Service.

The intent of the opinion piece was to acknowledge the recent merger of two existing bereavement services in Cleveland to create a newly combined one.

Because we believe the Cleveland and Bradley County community is blessed to have a diverse selection of such professional services, our editorial listed the names of each local operation. However, the name of Companion Funeral & Cremation Service was mistakenly omitted.

For this oversight, we apologize to Companion Funeral & Cremation Service, to the families who have entrusted this after-life care to Companion and to our readers. Companion has operated in Cleveland since 2011 and is one of two local funeral homes operating its own onsite crematory. The bereavement service has provided care for more than 1,000 area families.

The owners are third-generation Clevelanders.

We regret any inconvenience Sunday’s omission has created for Companion Funeral & Cremation Service and to all who have found comfort in the company’s professional service.
