CHATTANOOGA — Bradley Central sophomore Olivia Williams claimed a first place trophy at the Chattanooga District Golf Association event earlier this week.
Williams fired a 6-over 78 at the Moccasin Bend Golf Course to claim top honors by a half dozen strokes in the Girls’ 12-14 division.
Of the seven Bradley County linksters in the event, five others join Williams in breaking 80 in the 18-hole event.
Parker Gray had the best score of the day for the locals, shooting a 2-over 73, but it was only good enough for a fifth place finish in the Boys 14-15 age group as Justin Hickman fired a 6-under 66 and Evan Spence a 3-under 69 to go with even-par scores by Elijah Bankhead and Tyson Venable.
Cleveland High golfer Cade Caprara finished tied for 10th in the same age bracket with a 7-over 79.
Conner Caprara had a strong 2-over 74 but had to settle for seventh place in the Boys 16-18 class as Sport Almond blistered the course with a 5-under 67 and three other golfers broke par. Kyle Limberg finished 15th in the same bracket with an 88.
Nick Brakebill carded a 79 to earn fourth place in the Boys 12-13 division, with Ivan Reap shooting even par to win the top spot in the class.
Cleveland High’s Heidi Barringer also shot a 79 to tie Maddie Balthrop for fourth place in the Girls’ 15-18 division. Anna Pope won the bracket with a 1-under 71.
