Elaine Pulliam Laughrey, of Owensboro, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 30, 2014.

She was born in Georgetown, Ohio, to the late George and Josephine Britton Pulliam.

She was of the Christian faith and a member of Owensboro Christian Church. She was an educator in the truest sense. She taught for many years in Cleveland and then went on to teach Christian education. Music played a very important role in her life. She loved singing and going to concerts, and was a member of the choir at her church. She will be remembered as a big-hearted woman who always thought of others first. Most of all she loved her family and the time she spent with them.

Survivors include her loving husband, Gary T. Laughrey; son, Joseph Laughrey; and a sister, Carol Sue Stivers.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Friends of Kentucky Wesleyan College Music.

The service will be at held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Owensboro Christian Church with Pastor Ron Sharp officiating.

The visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro, Ky., and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Interment will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
