BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Forty-five Lee University athletes were listed on the Gulf South Conference 2014 Spring Academic Honor Roll which was released Tuesday.
The Flames and Lady Flames ranked tied for third for the most athletes receiving the honor from one school. West Florida was the overall leader with 52. Shorter was second with 49, and Lee and West Georgia had 45 named.
To be named to the GSC Honor Roll, a student must have completed one year at the college or university and maintained at least a 3.0 GPA.
For Lee, the baseball squad paved the way with 11 honorees. Women’s tennis (10) and softball (9) followed closely. Next came men’s tennis with six, men’s golf placed five on the list and women’s golf added four.
Baseball: Aaron Ashley, David Logan, Zack Zyburt, Rob Gustitus, Grayson Bailey, Jeremy Bales, Kyle Briner, Cameron Brewster, Derek Headrick, Zac Hawkins and Blake Ray.
Women’s tennis: Taylor Hudnall, Krista Good, Morgan Friedlander, Taylor Johnson, Maclain Yowarsky, Tonya McGraner, Christy North, Jody Rice, Kelley Lovingood and Annie Sandberg.
Softball: Laurel Allen, Hailey Clark, Lexie Dean, Jesse Giles, Shelby Gilreath, Hailey Gray, Hannah Hight, Angie Hughes and Annabeth Pruett.
Men’s tennis: Kip Kahler, Wesley Lemke, Daniel Hardesty, Richard Gamble, Andre Ishida and Kevin Tan.
Men’s golf: Matt Strube, Taylor Davis, Scott Murray, Zack Lawson and Hunter Vest.
Women’s golf: Bernadette Little, Callie Kitchens, Madison Alexander and Courtney Shelton.
