Billy Ray Thompson, 60, a resident of Murfreesboro and formerly of Bradley County, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014, in Murfreesboro.
He served in the Tennessee National Guard and was co-owner of Auto Art in Murfreesboro.
He was an avid fisherman and an aviation enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Bright Thompson of Murfreesboro; mother, Peggy Thompson of Cleveland; three children: Brian Thompson and wife, Corey, Nathan Thompson and wife, Amanda, and Scotty Thompson, all of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren: Hunter Scott Thompson, Claire Thompson, Jett Thompson, Jasper Thompson, Myles Thompson and Sadie Thompson, all of Murfreesboro; brother, Roger Thompson and wife, Gail, of Cleveland; sister, Deborah Ensley and husband, Kenneth, of Cohutta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Union Grove Church of Christ Cemetery with family members serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
