With teams estimated to bring in an average of 12 players and 15 fans, tournament organizers hope to see somewhere close to $50,000 infused in the local economy.
The Mayhem tournament will not be the only time outside dollars will be spread in the local economy.
Tournament organizers Billy Knight and Anthony Nelson have plans for 15 to 20 tournaments over the summer, and look to help add money to neighborhood coffers between March and October.
Knight and Nelson invite everyone out to see national quality softball teams in action this weekend. Some of the teams vying for top honors are ranked on a national level, and will be traveling across the country to participate in national and world tournaments over the course of the summer.
The tournament begins today at Tinsley Park and County Park and will run through Saturday.
