Bradley County Family and Community Education Club members, who completed and presented 30 cloth story books for the Books for Newborns project, presented them to new mothers at Sky Ridge Medical Center on Mother’s Day weekend. Standing, from left, are Jerri Gibson, registered nurse, FCE members Betty Morrow, Sherry Casteel, Mary Bagley, Linda Humphreys and Jerri Ervin and Robyn Swilling, RN. To further promote the importance of reading to young children, a second book is presented to the child at its first birthday. Books for Newborns, a community service project of Bradley County Family and Community Clubs, is part of a nationwide effort to improve literacy for children. Bradley County FCE clubs complete a number of community service projects each year including Books for Newborns.
