Eight Days After — the area’s only “Southern Fried Christian Band” — will headline the free Cowboy Gospel Jubilee Friday at 7 p.m.

The come-as-you-are event is free and open to the public.

“Eight Days After has that wonderful, distinctly Southern, electric guitar sound,” said Will Nichols, producer of the weekly music show. “They were the area’s “Band of the Year” a while back — and have only gotten better over time!”

Comprised of Tim Chastain on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Will Arnold on lead guitar, Kyle Ridley on drums and Ricky Asher on bass, the two-time North American Country Music Association International’s Band of the Year hails from North Georgia. Greg Young is the band’s sound engineer and road manager.

The band’s name refers to the biblical account of Jesus revealing himself to “Doubting Thomas” and the other disciples in the upper room eight days after His initial appearance after His resurrection.

“All of the guys are exceptional musicians with years of experience,” said Nichols. “Their focus is spreading the message of Christ and their music is influenced by a wide range of gospel, country, blues, rock and Southern rock.

Also appearing is singer-songwriter Elmer Bramlett, Emily Varnell, and the Cowboy Church Band and Chorale. Ron Upchurch is host and announcer.

The Cowboy Gospel Jubilee is held at the Cleveland Cowboy Church in the Dockery Heights community at 3040 Blythe Road, off Dockery Lane, between Blue Springs Road and Blackburn Road.

Admission is free and a love offering is taken for the band.
