Bradley County students Morgan Fetzner and Rebecca Ferguson are local high school equestrians who will both advance to the Interscholastic Equestrian Association Western National Finals in Oklahoma City, June 25-28.

In her third year at IEA and second at Nationals, Fetzner is in 10th grade at Bradley Central High School and competes for the Natchez Bend Equestrian Team coached by Trish Franks.

In her first year, Miss Ferguson is a freshman home-schooled student who competes for the Ocoee Equestrian Team coached by Denise Lineberry. Fetzner is a member of the Chattanooga Pony Club and both are members of the Bradley County 4-H Equestrian Team called TC Wranglers.

The Interscholastic Equestrian Association is comprised of teams of middle- and high-school students from all over the country who compete throughout the year in both the Hunt Seat and Western disciplines, advancing through local competitions to the recent Zone Championships held in Savannah, Ga., at the Savannah College of Art and Design Equestrian Center.

The ladies have to earn enough points with their wins to earn the right to go to Zone Championships.

In this recent show against teams from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee, Fetzner placed first in both Western Horsemanship and Reining, and Ferguson placed third in her class in Western JV Horsemanship, earning both of them the right to compete in Oklahoma City.

Fetzner is the daughter of Dennis and Lisa Fetzner. Ferguson is the daughter of Eric and Abbey Ferguson.
