Richard Epps, 79, a resident of Athens, passed away, Sunday, April 6, 2014, in an Athens health care facility.
He was born in Knoxville, on Feb. 7, 1935, and lived in Citrus County, Fla. for approximately 35 years until moving to Athens, more than five years. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and BBQ for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Epps and Annie Beck Epps; one daughter, Glenda Rachelle Epps; three sisters and one brother.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Julie Lynn and Richard H. Tanksley; son, Richard “Ricky” Author Epps; three grandchildren; Tayla Rachelle Epps, Anthony Kemper and Romey Allen Epps; one sister, Pauline Barns of Loundon County; the mother of his three children, Kaye Lunsford of Athens; and several other extended family members and friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
