Chair-ries Jubilee: Caterers creating own dynasty at annual event

The regional chefs and restaurateurs who are distinguished for their respective culinary dynasties will present their own version of art for the 2104 Chair-ries Jubilee “Do-Over Dynasty.”

“These food artists have nothing to ‘do over’ once they arrive at our annual fundraiser for arts in education,” said Beth Gardner, caterers co-chairman. “In fact, their delectable creations are one of the highlights of the Chair-ries Jubilee event.”

The social hour and silent auction begin at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Museum Center at Five Points.

“Some of the best chefs and caterers in the region are returning to Chair-ries Jubilee,” Gardner said. “Guests will have an opportunity to taste a variety of delicious foods as they walk among the auction items and bid on their favorite pieces.”

“Do-Over Dynasty” is the 2014 theme for the annual fundraiser presented by the Allied Arts Council of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce. This year, nine regional chefs and restauranteurs are already making preparations for their culinary display.

Participating are Café Roma, The Catering Connection, CBC Cleveland, Cleveland Country Club, Impressions Catering, Jimmy John’s, Pam’s Florist and Catering, Romaine on the Go and Tasteful Gatherings.

“As in years past, these culinary professionals will create what we like to think of as an ‘event within an event,’” Gardner said. “It really is an aspect of Chair-ries Jubilee worth the price of admission.”

Chef Shannon Ritzhaupt, Café Roma, will be back with balsamic mushrooms, broccoli and fresh garlic, tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, and marinated tri-color carrots.

Brandi Owens, with The Catering Connection, will present a chip-and-dip station.

CBC Cleveland will create its flagship sandwich, the “Burns Tobacconist” Cuban. This savory creation includes marinated jerk pork, slow roasted and shaved, on a French baguette with smoked ham, melted Swiss cheese, spicy mustard and dill pickles. They will also present an exciting new dessert — edible chocolate/pea-nut butter cigars.

Cleveland Country Club’s station will offer savory duck drumettes with Thai orange sauce. Nearby, newcomer Jimmy John’s will provide samples of a variety of fresh sandwiches.

Greg Hicks with Impressions Catering is teasing attendees by simply saying he is creating Chair-ries Jubilee three ways.

Also returning is Romaine on the Go with a mini Mexican bar that will include homemade fried tortilla chips and mango salsa, guacamole and Southwestern mini melts.

Newcomer Tasteful Gatherings will introduce Manhattan lobster rolls, an artisan cheese display and a fun display of cheesecake push-ups.

For those with a sweet tooth, Pam Mathews, Pam’s Florist and Catering, will serve cake and punch.

“We also appreciate the support of Cooke’s Food Stores, Ooltewah Discount Liquors and Tarver Distributing for beverages,” Gardner added.

Chair-ries Jubilee raises funds for arts in education programs in local schools and arts activities throughout the community. The April 11 fundraiser kicks off at 6 p.m. with a silent auction and social hour, followed by a live auction at 8 p.m.

Tickets, available at the Chamber of Commerce and The Red Ribbon, are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
