OOLTEWAH — Polk County fell to Ooltewah 11-7 Thursday evening at the Ooltewah Invitational.
The Lady Wildcats scored three runs in the first.
The first runner was brought in by a single by Hannah Triplett, and the following two came in from a home run by Hannah Withrow.
The Lady Owls were able to score six runs in the bottom of the first.
Polk answered by adding four more runs to its score in the top of the second, which gave it a 7-6 lead.
Felecia Johnson’s single drove in a run, and then both Johnson and Aubrie Bowman scored off of a double by Briana Muller. The final run was scored by Kaitlyn Williams on a balk.
Unfortunately for the Lady Wildcats, the Lady Owls were able to score three runs in the bottom of the second and two more in the bottom of the third, all while holding Polk scoreless for the remainder of the game.
“We hit the ball pretty good, Ooltewah just has so much speed and put a lot of pressure on us. We didn’t play our best defense,” Polk County coach Bill Triplett stated.
Weather permitting, the Lady Wildcats will play Sequoyah at 5:30 and then McMinn County at 7 tonight at the Summit of Softball Complex.
