Frankie, as he was known to family and friends, was born July 1, 1953 and was the son of the late Sarah Pierce Baker and Ralph J. Baker. He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky D. Gardner Baker; brother, Gary Baker; his maternal grandparents, Walter and Phebe Pierce; paternal grandparents, Clay and Hattie Cash Baker; and his father-in-law, James Odean Rose.
He was a truck driver most of his life. He was a very active member of the Senior Activities Center. He loved Bluegrass Gospel Music and played the bass guitar and sang tenor for multiple Bluegrass groups. His passion was ministering for the Lord in song. The bluegrass community has lost a loving brother, wonderful singer and talented musician that loved his sisters and brothers of music. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Kathy Rose Baker of Georgetown; daughter, Phebe Baker Millian; sons: Denny E. Gardner Baker of Ooltewah, Eddie L. Gardner Baker and his wife, Christina, of Mesa, Ariz.; grandchildren: Dakota W. Baker, Cheyenne Gardner, Nathaniel Gardner, Kelsey Gardner, Tristan Gardner, Zane Gardner, Madison Gardner and Mason Gardner; sister, Brenda Strickland of Cleveland; mother-in-law, Virginia Rose of Georgetown; brothers-in-law, Gary Rose and his wife, Cleda, of Delano, Terry Rose and his wife, Marsha, of Reliance; and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Rick Campbell officiating.
Interment will follow in the Campground Cemetery in Reliance with Tony Phillips, Perry Suits, James Knight, Donald Goode, Bobby Orr and Tommy Prince serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary and Terry Rose.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
