CHATTANOOGA — J. Woody Kennedy, M.D., has been installed as 2014 president of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society.

Dr. Kennedy succeeds past president Dr. Mark Anderson. Dr. Joseph (Gene) Huffstutter was named president-elect.

Kennedy is a board-certified plastic surgeon at The Plastic Surgery Group in Chattanooga. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1989. He will serve as president through January 2015.

Huffstutter, a rheumatologist with Arthritis Associates, will become president of the Medical Society in 2015. He graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.

Anderson, an infectious disease specialist with Infectious Disease Physicians of Chattanooga, will continue to serve on the board as Immediate past president. Dr. Wayne Scott, an internist with Galen Medical Group, is secretary-treasurer.

Also joining the 2014 Medical Society board for first terms are Vijaya Appareddy, M.D.; Chris Chase, M.D.; Karin Covi, M.D.; and Shauna Lorenzo-Rivero, M.D. Other members on the board of directors are David Armstrong, M.D.; David Close, M.D.; Jennifer Dooley, M.D.; Paul Hendricks, M.D.; Peter Lund, M.D.; Glenn Newman, M.D.; Mukta Panda, M.D.; and James Zellner, M.D.
