Joseph “Joe” D. Lane, 81, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, in a Chattanooga hospital.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. He was a retired truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Lyde Lane and Viola Lane; wife, Shirley Maddux Lane; and son, Max Lane.
Survivors include his children: Tim Lane and wife, Katy, of Illinois and Cheryl Lane Chavis and her fiancé, Brian Bettis, of Cleveland; grandchildren: Mallory Lane and fiancé, Greg Carter, of Hixson, Adam Lane and wife, Jill, of Illinois, and Brianna Bettis of Cleveland; great-grandchildren: Dara Lane and Griffin Lane, both of Illinois; brothers: Cecil Lane of Cleveland and Tommy Lane of Burns; sister, Lila Grace Philpott of Georgia; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
A graveside service will be held at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at 1 p.m. with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at Fike Funeral Home.
